El responsable de vigilancia epidemiológica de la jurisdicción sanitaria 01 de Valles Centrales, Michell Johan Cruz Barranco, aseguró que en México la Hepatitis C afecta a más de 230 mil personas, lo que ubica al país en el segundo lugar a nivel mundial, solo por arriba de Brasil quien encabeza el mayor número de casos.
En entrevista para este medio de comunicación, aseguró que Oaxaca ocupa el décimo lugar a nivel nacional con casos reportados, con una tasa del 2.4 por ciento, lo que la convierte en un tema de salud pública, además de que esta enfermedad puede ser tratada si se detecta de manera oportuna.
Explicó que en lo que va del año se han detectado 17 casos solo en la jurisdicción sanitaria, siendo los municipios de Oaxaca de Juárez, Santa Lucia del Camino y Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán con mayor incidencia de esta enfermedad.
Precisó que al igual que el VIH se estima que por cada caso detectado, hay cuatro personas que padecen esta enfermedad sin que sepan que son portadores, además de que las primeras afectaciones se ven a partir de los 10 años, cuando se diagnostican afectaciones en el hígado, pulmón, en la piel o diabetes.
Es una enfermedad silenciosa que se trasmite por tener relaciones sexuales sin protección, de manera sanguínea, por el uso de drogas inyectables o utensilios como jeringas o al realizarse tatuajes sin las medidas de seguridad necesarias.
“Esto es una epidemia a nivel mundial que hasta ahora se le está tomando importancia, por lo que se ha buscado la manera de orientar a las personas, además de que lo costos del tratamiento por mes pueden ser de 150 a 200 mil pesos”, enfatizó.
Michell Johan Cruz Barranco aseguró que los casos que se han detectado ha sido a través de los diferentes bancos de sangre o centros de transfusión sanguínea, “sin embargo, lamentablemente cuando esto sucede la enfermedad ya está avanzada, cuando no es así se remite a las instancias correspondientes para su tratamiento”.
